5 Easy Tips On How To Index Your Website & Blog Posts Fast

This post may contain affiliate links for more info visit my disclosure page.

I hear these questions all the time in the online community I’m apart of:

“How to index blog post fast?”

or

“How long does it take to get indexed by Google?”

or

“How do I get my WordPress blog to show up on Google?”

I definitely have the answers to these questions and you just need a few tools to get your site setup properly so that Google will crawl your site on a regular basis.

The truth of the matter is that you can get indexed very quickly by Google if you have your website setup with the right tools and then do a couple of small things when you have a new blog post.

When you complete the things I list below, you’ll just have to do minor things each time you have a new post to get it indexed within hours.

This is my mini guide to getting your website and blog posts indexed by Google quickly:

  1. Set Up Google Search Console (aka Google Webmasters Tools)
    • Google Analytics
    • Submit Sitemap
  2. Submit New Blog Posts To Google
    • Fetch As Google
  3. Share On Social Media Platforms
  4. On-Page SEO
    • Titles
    • Post Length
    • Publishing Frequency
  5. Page Speed

After the 5 easy tips, I will close with “Where Did I Learn All This?” to tell you more about the online community I mentioned above.

SET UP GOOGLE SEARCH CONSOLE
(AKA WEBMASTERS TOOLS)

The Google Search Console, which used to be called Webmasters Tools, is a great way to get your blog and your posts indexed fast.

ADDING YOUR WEBSITE TO SEARCH CONSOLE

When you start a new blog, adding your new domain URL to the Search Console is very important and should be done as soon as you start your site, which you can do for free here.

Your site will be easily verified on Search Console if you’ve already connected your Google Analytics to your site already.

For Google Analytics set up, you can go through this post here first.

Once signed into Search Console, click on “Add A Property“.  You will then just click the verify button to verify your new website since you already have Google Analytics set up.

Search Console Add a Property

If you don’t have Google Analytics set up, they have different options for you to verify your website, you can just follow the instructions there to get it verified.

SUBMIT YOUR SITEMAP TO SEARCH CONSOLE

Once verified and added to the Search Console, it’ll be wise to submit your sitemap right away.  A sitemap tells search engines what to index and what not to.

You can create your sitemap easily by having the All-in-One SEO Pack plugin.

Once you have All-in-One SEO Pack installed and activated, you just have to activate the XML Sitemap option in the plugin’s Feature Manager.

All In One SEO Pack Feature Manager XML Sitemap

Once activated, you can submit your “sitemap.xml” to your Search Console under Crawl > Sitemaps, then click on the red “Add/Text Sitemap” on the right side of the screen.

Search Console Submit Sitemap

In the slot they provide, just type in sitemap.xml and click on Submit.

Search Console Add Sitemap

That’s all you need to do, the All-in-One SEO Pack plugin in your WordPress will update the sitemap whenever your site has changes and sent out to search engines.

So you don’t have to do much to this after you’ve set this up.

SUBMIT NEW BLOG POSTS TO GOOGLE

Now that your blog website is setup in Search Console, every time you have a new post, you will use the function “Fetch as Google” in Search Console to get your new blog post indexed super fast.

Just follow these simple steps and you’ll get your blog post indexed in no time:

Step 1.

Open Search Console, on left menu, click on “Crawl” then “Fetch As Google”.

Step 2.

Fill out the link box with the link to your post, only the part after your root domain.

If your entire post URL is:

Then you just have to copy and paste this portion of the post URL link into the box:

“what-is-wealthy-affiliate-about-an-insider-video-tour-for-you/”

Search Console Fetch As Google

Step 3.

Next, click on the red “Fetch” button.  You do NOT click on “Fetch and Render” button, just use the “Fetch” button only.

Step 4.

Now you’re going to see just below that it’s waiting to get indexed and there’s a “Request Indexing” button that you can now click on.

Search Console request indexing

Step 5.

There are now two ways to index your blog post:

  • Crawl Only This URL – This option is what you should pick because it will crawl just that single URL, and you have 500 quota for this option every month.
  • Crawl This URL and Its Direct Links – You only get to do this option 10 times per month and really not needed to have Google crawl multiple URLs.

Click on “Crawl only this URL“, verify you’re not a robot, and click on the blue “Go” button.

REPEAT THE STEPS AGAIN

You must do these steps again for the same blog post URL, but this time before Step 3, you will select “Mobile: Smartphone” from the “Desktop” dropdown menu.

Search Console Fetch as Mobile Smartphones

Once you’ve done so and continue to Step 3 – 5, you will then be finished with adding your new post to Google.

There you go!  You’ve indexed your new blog post for desktops and for mobiles!

Your blog post can be indexed as fast as within the hour or two.  I’ve checked before and this method gets it indexed the fastest.

With every new post you have on your blog, you should also share on all the social media accounts you have.

This method is a no brainer as it’ll help get you free exposure and free traffic with little work.  You will have better exposure, of course, if you have a larger following.

PLATFORMS

Even with small following, you should at least share it on Google+, Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.

Google+ because well, it’s part of Google, so you’re going to get indexed faster if your link is on their social media platform.

The other three social media platforms are all great for link sharing because of their ability to have clickable links in their posts.

Instagram can be shared there too but you will have to change the URL in your profile each time you have a new post.

HOW TO GROW YOUR FOLLOWERS

I have several posts on how to grow your social media following here and I hope you will browse through them to help you grow yours as well.

The Top 10 tips post, you’ll see in the above link, to grow your Instagram account also applies to Twitter, Pinterest and G+.

For Facebook, the best way to grow your fan page likes is either placing ads which requires money of course, or you can share your page posts to Facebook Groups in your niche.

This has helped my Facebook Page, still a slow way of getting likes, but nonetheless, it grows every month.

The more social proof you have, the more better for your posts because Google and other search engines are starting to account for social reach and other social media metrics in their algorithm to rank these types of posts better.

USE AUTOMATION

Therefore, building a social media presence is getting more and more important, almost vital.

Yes it’ll be another thing added to your list to do but there are tools out there to help you with this.

A lot of people don’t have time to grow their social media accounts and that’s why I do all of mine on automation!

My blog posts are blasted out to all my channels everyday, being shared to Facebook Groups, and followers are growing with my like, follow, unfollow method, all on automation.

ON-PAGE SEO

Your actual blog post itself will also help it get indexed faster if you have consideration of these three things:

  • Titles
  • Post length
  • Publishing frequency

TITLES

Titles are one of the most important elements of your blog post and if you can get it right, you can get a lot more targeted traffic to you.

Titles should not be more than 60 characters but at the same time should include the keywords you are targeting.

In addition, you want the title to also captivate or peak curiosity in the people searching for answers so can get better click through rate, which in turn will get you better rankings for your posts too.

POST LENGTH

When I talk about post length, I mean how many words are you in your post.  Nowadays, we should be aiming to write minimum of 1,000 words.

A longer blog post will always out rank a post with less words.

There are posts that are on page 1 with much less words like 300-500 count but if it’s a competitive keyword you’re after, longer posts always win.

You also have the chance to have your reader on your site longer the more info you can put in a post which will improve your bounce rate which Google likes as well.

PUBLISHING FREQUENCY

There comes a point that your site is so big with so much fresh content, the search engines will come to your site frequently to crawl it.

However, to get to that point, you must publish your blog posts often.

How often?  At least 3 times a week!  Okay, maybe some of you are moaning about this number…. but bare minimum is once a week.

Why I recommend more is this reason:  The more fresh content you have on your site, the more search engines will learn to come crawl your site more often.

Also, you will see that your organic traffic will go up way more if you write more fresh content on your blog.

I publish four times a week, making 16 posts a month.  Sometimes I will throw in a quick one or two more posts because of some news that broke out that I want to ride on to make it 16-18 posts a month.

Eventually, I’d like to get to 20 posts a month.

If you can pull these three factors together, title, post length, and frequent publishing schedule, you will have your site crawled way more often.

You can still do the Fetch as Google function as that’s probably always faster but if you can build an authority site, you will have no problem getting indexed quickly.

PAGE SPEED

The last thing that could help you get index faster is how fast your site loads.  The faster your site, the better it is for ranking on search engines.

You can check your sitespeed at PageSpeed Insights which is also part of Google.

When you first check it, you may get scores in the 60’s or lower, but don’t fret, I have some posts that you can use to help fix those errors and get your site into the 90’s!

I had to do this for my own sites and searched for days to get it all fixed.  There are always several elements to fix and the biggest one are images.

Having big images on your site really slows down the load time as well as having a lot of javascripts.

Here are my two posts that will fix all the errors you usually see when you first perform your site speed test:

  4. Can we share articles in more than 50 social networking sites to get fast index? If we do so do we get hit by Google

    • Hi Asma, I don’t think there are 50 social networking sites but doing that won’t get you indexed any faster or ranked faster. You should check out my guide and use the training I used so you can learn SEO and see how you get ranked by Google.

      Best of luck to you,
      Grace
