You will also want to find the right keyword research tool to use that will show you how to search out your keywords.
The keyword tool I use, Jaaxy, will have other functionalities than just being a keyword tool like Site Rank to see where your posts rank for certain keywords, Brainstorm to search for more topic ideas to write about, and Alphabet method to find various types more keywords, and saving keywords to lists for later use.
Plugins To Use
You should also install the proper plugins like All-in-One SEO or Yoast SEO to optimize your site for you and create a XML sitemap.
This plugin will help you get your site search engine optimized for search engines to find you. All you have to do is install and activate the plugin.
Then, in the setting of your plugin, you can find the XML sitemap section to create your sitemap and by doing so, it will submit to the search engines.
Google Search Console & Bing Webmaster Tools
You will use the sitemap created in your SEO plugin to submit into Google Search Console, all the instructions are here.
Not only being indexed, you have all sorts of analytics in there once it’s set up so you can see how your search traffic is coming in and how your pages are being ranked.
Having your site submitted to these types of tools will help you get indexed much faster.
Use Fetch As Google For New Posts
Fetch as Google as a tool in Google Search Console and this is something you should use for each new post you publish.
This is so that your new post will get index much faster, as fast as within the hour sometimes!
This tool is under the Crawl menu on the left and choose Fetch as Google. You can see how it’s all done here.
This is almost a daily task for me because I publish often with all my sites, so you should do the same for your new posts too as this really works!
Indexed Vs Ranked
Remember that being indexed and ranked are two totally different things:
- Indexing means that your site is added to a search engine’s directory of sites and if you search out a specific URL for your site on a search engine, it will show up. If it doesn’t show up, it is not indexed.
- Ranking means where your website pages show up on the search engine results pages (SERPs) for a particular search term, keyword, or keyword phrase. Lots of factors affect your ranking on search engines and this post here shows you how to check your rankings as well as how to improve your rankings by checking and optimizing certain aspects of your site.
Of course, your first step is to get your pages indexed, then you work on getting those pages ranked on Page 1 of the SERPs. If you use the right keywords, sometimes you can show up on Page 1 very quickly.
