Step 1: Pick a Niche

The first step is picking a niche and a niche is a group of people who have the same interest in a particular topic. When picking a niche, consider first your passion or interests.

This way, it will be easier for you to create content because it’s something that you have knowledge and experience with. However, you shouldn’t stop there. It’s still not enough that you directly pick something that you’re interested in.

You should also pick a niche that is profitable. Also, check the competition. If there’s too much competition going on, there’s a great chance that your blog will be drowned by high-authority websites.

How to Find the Best NicheSo, you might want to consider something else, so here are the steps when finding the right niche:

  1. Choose a niche that you’re interested in and make sure that you can see yourself writing about it for a very long time.
  2. Perform market research.
  3. Choose a sub-niche.
  4. It must be profitable.

Another advice I can give you when picking a niche is that you must narrow it down. This way, you can target a specific audience, which makes it easier to sell a product in the future.

For example, your niche is weight loss. This is actually a popular topic, but it’s too broad. Losing weight isn’t a simple task and a strategy might work for person A but is not applicable to person B. So, you should narrow it down.

Let’s say, weight loss for mothers who want to lose the pregnancy weight. This way, you’re targeting new moms who are looking for ways to shed off the weight they gained while they were pregnant.

This is really effective because if your niche is broad, you’re not really helping and even pleasing anyone.

Step 2: Build Your Blog

When building a blog, I will recommend WordPress. It is ideal for beginners for a number of reasons. It is user-friendly, SEO-friendly, and has so many themes and plugins that will make your website more functional.

Before you create your blog with WordPress, you first need to have a domain name (i.e., workanywherenow.com) and a web hosting account, where your site will be live on the internet.

Finding domain registries and web hosting companies in Google these days can be confusing since there are a lot of choices out there.

Instead, getting your domain and a hosted WordPress blog website at a training platform is much easier so you have everything at the same place, see my free guide about that here.

Getting a blog website from that special training platform that I use as well will also install WordPress for you automatically as well as including the few plugins you’ll need to start with.

You’ll also get to use a Site Builder to create it which only takes a few steps, see how you can build one under a minute here:

Step 3: Attract Visitors

After you have created your first post, it’s time to get it out in the open. This is also the time that you will start building your audience. Some tips to get traffic to your blog:

  1. Share it on social media networks. WordPress has the social sharing feature which lets you share your post to your social media accounts, like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
  2. Make sure your content can be seen in search engines. Check your privacy settings and see to it that your posts can be seen publicly. Submit your blog sitemap to Google Search Console and make sure you have optimized your posts so that search engines can rank your posts.
  3. Create online conversations. Check out other blogs that somewhat relates to your topic and interests. Get to know them and post comments that can contribute something. Even though this won’t start a discussion with the author, you can communicate and connect with the other readers.
  4. Continue blogging. A blog that gets updated regularly has better chances in driving more traffic. When you post useful content, your readers will look forward to what you’re going to post next and they will likely share it on their own blogs and social media accounts.
  5. Being able to use keywords to drive FREE traffic from search engines – This is absolutely the best way to get traffic to your blog as this is the most targeted free traffic you’re ever going to get.  I got 45K visitors to my blog here last month without paying for it.  If you don’t know how to do this, then it’s best you learn from the same exact training I use, find out here.

Step 4: Start Making Money

When you’re already driving more traffic to your blog and you have a pretty solid audience, it’s time that you make money with it. There are various ways you can monetize your blog:

  1. Affiliate Marketing – This business model is one of the most popular ways to make money with your blog. This is because you don’t need to invest a lot of money to promote a particular product (physical, digital, or a service). Many affiliate programs are free to join, and I wouldn’t join anything that makes you pay to join. When you’re an affiliate marketer, you’re going to get paid for the sales you generate through your affiliate link for the seller/company you’re promoting.  Affiliate marketing makes up 3/4 of my total online income here at my blog.
  2. Selling Ads – You can either contact advertisers or if you’re generating really good traffic, they’re going to reach out to you and will ask you to feature their ads on your site. Selling ads can either be in the form of links, banners, and buttons.
  3. Guest Posting – This means you’re going to write content that will be published on someone else’s blog. You can get paid for writing content for a number of reasons: bloggers want to get more traffic, for branding purposes, for enhancing their exposure and authority, and others are doing it for the backlinks. Many bloggers are more than happy to pay a writer to guest post for them in other blogs.
  4. Backlinks – These are clickable hyperlinks that will lead you to another page or site. When you write guest posts for other blogs, you can include your link in the content to drive more traffic to your site or even to the product you are trying to sell. Using backlinks is still an effective way to increase your online presence. It has been used for as long as I can remember and it’s still effective today.
  5. Selling your own product – Since you’ve been feeding your audience with useful content, and that they already trust you, you can also sell your own products using your blog. Many small business owners have their own blogs since it’s an effective way to market goods and services.
  6. Consultation – When you’ve established authority in your niche and that people view you as an expert in your field, you can offer them coaching and consultation services. This is also an effective strategy because not only are you earning money, you’re also helping others thrive in whatever it is you’re coaching them, for example, making money online or the right way to do affiliate marketing.
