I’ve been using affiliate marketing for a little more than 2 years now and I find it a fascinating business model that offers so much.

If you’re able to create value for your audience, then you’ll really win at this online business game.

WHAT ELEMENTS DOES A GREAT BLOG POST HAVE?

In order to have great blog posts, you will need to have certain elements to make your blog posts worth your effort.  You don’t want to just write for the sake of writing.

The following are my tips on what you should be including in your blog posts to make them good for affiliate marketing:

#1) Engaging Title

A great blog post starts with an enticing title, one that will make others click on it which will increase your clickthrough rate which will get you higher rankings.

Your title should spike curiosity in your reader’s mind so they will be inclined to click to see what you have to say about that topic.

But, don’t use click bait.

Don’t use a title that you’re not really going to write about and make people feel disappointed once they have clicked through to your site.

That will only hurt your site as they will flip off of your site very quickly if you do that.

#2) Variety of Sub-Headings

Each blog post you write should have different sections in it so that your readers can navigate your post better.

I use subheadings like H2 and H3 in all my posts to make sure I can differentiate the various sections I have in my blog posts.

Breaking up your text into sections no only offers your readers easier readability but also they can jump to the sections they are interested in thus saving them time.

You should probably have 2 – 4 H2 sub headings and a few H3 headings, depending on the topic of the post of course, you can add more or less.

#3) Targeted Keywords

Each of your blog posts should target no more than one or two keywords.

These days, you cannot keyword stuff or write in a way that’s obvious that you’re using that keyword.

I still see this being done today, even when I buy expensive content, writers aren’t being more naturally about their keywords.

If it’s obvious to me, Google will pick this up and you’ll lose rankings because of this.

Your keywords should target the specific topic you’re writing about and your content then should answer the topic at hand.

That’s why most blog posts should start with a targeted keyword.

#4) Problem Solving Topics

When figuring out what to write to your audience, you need to think about their pain points.  In every niche, people are going to have some kind of problem or pain point for you to solve.

If you can write about these topics that could offer your audience a solution to these pain points, then you’ll be really rocking with affiliate marketing because you’ll be building trust.

Once you can build trust, you will be able to offer them recommendations which they will gladly check out since you are offering them this valuable information and helping people solve their aches and pains.

Either write the how-to posts or a FAQ on certain things in your niche can really help out your readers.

#5) Affiliate Link Placement

Don’t be bombarding your readers with affiliate links in the beginning of your post.  Just like real visitors, search engines don’t like them either so be very careful that you don’t place them too early in your blog post.

You can put it after the first scroll or all the way at the bottom of your post.

In affiliate marketing, it’s really about providing value first and building that trust, so if you can provide value, value, value, then recommend a product, you’ll have a better chance of getting clicks to your affiliate products and services this way.

You also don’t want to add too many affiliate links to your posts.  You can just have a few “money” pages that have a lot of affiliate links and then have the rest of the posts just direct your visitors to visit those “money” pages.

This will cut down on your affiliate links in general and you’ll have internal linking which is always a good thing for SEO.

#6) Clear CTA

Going off of the last point, you really gotta TELL your readers what to do when they get to the end of your blog post, don’t just let it end and not tell your audience to do anything.

That is the best spot for your reader to click on something to continue reading on your website.

That’s why having clear call-to-action (CTA) links or buttons on your post will be very useful, especially near the end of your posts, and will get your visitors moving to the pages that you really want them to see.

I’ve been using this free button creator here every since I started my journey and it’s all I need to create an obvious CTA for people to go click on.

#7) ALL Information Included

To make sure your blog post is great, you need to make sure it’s complete.

Meaning, does your reader have all the information they need with the topic you blogged about or will your audience have to go elsewhere to find out more information?

Don’t limit yourself on how much information to include in a blog post, you can never make it too long if it’s all information that your audience needs to have.

#8) Make Your Blog Post Lengthy

It’s a fact that a longer blog posts rank better than shorter ones of the same keyword but don’t just make your blog post longer for the sake of getting more words into a post.

That’s not going to help anyone.  You will need to come up with several sections and that’s why having sub-titles will be helpful for you to expand that one topic that started with a keyword.

Having several sections helps you write more information about the topic and then you’ll easily get 1,000 words or more if you do like four sub titles.

Most of my posts are 1,500 – 2,500 words and they are packed with information that I feel my readers need to satisfy what they were searching for.

#9) Make It Shareable

Are your blog posts easy to share for your readers?  There are plenty of social media plugins you can use to make sure your posts can be shared easily.

They are those little icons that show up on the side or bottom of a blog post that allow sharing to several different social media platforms as well as sharing on email.

Having this will help with engagement and backlinks to your site.
