Do you think this app is just for kids? Well, guess what? It’s not.
It is extremely lucrative for you as an adult or an online entrepreneur because this is another option with which you can get free traffic.
You really do not have to spend a lot of time on this app as the videos are only 15 to 60 seconds and I have seen a high number of online entrepreneurs on their making the best use of this app.
So without further ado, let me show you 5 ways to make money on TikTok:

Driving Organic Free Traffic
If you didn’t know already TikTok is a free and great way to gain some free traffic.
It is a free and easy way to show your targeted audience what you have to offer.
TikTok is also one of the last platforms left which you can exploit for some online traffic.
On your account you will have 2 places available to link your Instagram and YouTube account, I have linked only my YouTube channel to maximize my growth there.
I have seen a lot of entrepreneurs on there without actually spending a lot of time on it, they already have a huge following.
There are four main ways you can get noticed on TikTok:
- Post Everyday: You have to post constantly and daily so you can end up in people’s feed.
- Use Hashtags: Just like Instagram, you can use hashtags on TikTok and they make you more relatable.
- Follow people: Again, like Instagram, you should follow people who are in your niche to get follow backs.
- Trending Music and Videos: On TikTok, there is always a trend going on and you can use these types of videos and music. Following such trends will get you more views.
In this way, you can reach a high number of audiences. I know because I have tried it too.

Go Live On TikTok
Just like on Instagram, there is an option to go live on TikTok.
But unlike Instagram, there is a condition that you need to have at least 1000 followers before you can start going live from your TikTok account.
There is also another main difference between Instagram live and TikTok live, which is your audience can donate to you!
TikTok will literally let you earn gifts from your viewers, people watching your lives, gift coins to creators like you to show their appreciation for your content.
On TikTok, 65 coins (updated from above video, June, 2020) are worth $1 and people (age 18+) on the platform can buy coins so they can buy “Gifts” to donate to the creators of their choice while on live.
Each Gift costs a certain amount of coins.
So someone can buy coins to then buy Gifts with the coins.
Then, when you go live, that person can give you, the creator that’s doing the live, Gifts to tell you how much they appreciate you.
You, as the receiver of these Gifts, will see that your Gifts have turned into Diamonds and you can see this under:
- Click the top right 3 dots on your TikTok profile
- Click on “Balance”
- Click on “LIVE Gifts”
There, you’ll find your Diamonds and how much they are worth in USD.
TikTok will take half of your Diamonds so at the end of the day it will basically amount to 50% of your Diamonds which means 200 Diamonds will be worth $1.
If you have a high number of followers on TikTok and a good account, just like any other social media, you can have sponsored posts on your account.
Either brands will approach you or you can approach brands yourself, tell them about your account and see if you can get any sponsors.
When you are picking a brand or company or any product to get sponsored by it is very important to make sure they are aligned with your audience and it is enticing them to advertise with your TikTok account.
This could be a very lucrative option, you could earn about $50 or $100 or even a $1000 depending on how influential you are on TikTok and the number of followers you have on your social media.
Promote Your Own Shop
If you already have a shop or business of your own, TikTok is a very good place to advertise for it.
Most businesses show off their products in good resolution videos and highlight their best selling ones and it really grabs attention from the audiences.
They also put their products on the latest music or video trends and shows it in an aesthetically pleasing way in order to gain more views.
You can link your shop’s main website to your bio on your TikTok page.
On the other hand, here is another idea, if you do not already have a business, you can start your own online business.
You can put the link to your shop on your TikTok account’s bio or even put the URL of your shop on the text on the entire videos you make on your TikTok so people can search using that.
Have your shop linked to your Instagram and YouTube accounts as well if you use them so if your viewers visit your other accounts from TikTok, they can go to your shop from those accounts too.
Promote Other People’s Products
Just like you can promote your online business on TikTok, you can also promote other people’s products or services on TikTok.
If you do not want to sell your own products, you can always do this.
If you like a particular brand and you like using those products or wearing those products, you can just show them off on your videos and you can start promoting them on TikTok.
This is what I do as I do not have any products of my own, (not yet as of this post).
Once you select the products from the brands or businesses you like, you can contact the companies to get their affiliate links and you can either label it on your TikTok videos or link it on your Instagram or YouTube accounts.
What I Promote On My TikTok Account
I promote products of other businesses on my TikTok and not just that I have all my other platforms including my website and my YouTube channel linked on my TikTok account.
The business model I use is called affiliate marketing, where I earn commissions when people take my recommendations and go sign up or buy with my affiliate links.
I have used this business model since 2016 and I didn’t know how to do this which made me search for training.
The training I discovered, I fell in love, and started also promoting to others who want to learn how to make money with a website using affiliate marketing.
I also promote other make money online platforms on TikTok and I promote a lot of my YouTube videos which also allows people to learn more of my affiliate products there on YouTube.
The reason I decided to start making videos on TikTok is to primarily drive free organic traffic to my website and to my YouTube channel, as well as building a brand.
Every time one of my TikTok videos do well, my website traffic goes nuts as well as my YouTube video views and new followers of course.
This helps in generating a lot of free traffic on my sites and everything is linked together, which generates me a big income.
