Before starting your own online business, you must be familiar with the best niches for affiliate marketing. You must determine your targeted audience and if the demand is high on the market. This is referred to as the niche research.
A lot of people fall short as they choose topics that are too broad or complicated. It becomes even more difficult as they are competing against giant companies or they built a vague website that doesn’t attract to anyone.

What’s A Niche?
It’s a specific subgroup of a bigger market where a client with a problem has been determined. It’s less complicated than it seems. Allow me to explain it to you.
So, for instance, there’s the weight loss business.
That’s a billion-dollar market and the players competing in this business are hard to, well, compete. You, who’s just about to start, don’t have the money, time, and other resources to go against big companies, like Slimming World.
So, what should you do?
You’ll have to find a small subgroup within the how-to-lose-weight market. You’ll have to identify that field where you can play competitively with others. For starters, check out audiences that aren’t appropriately attended.
There, you’re going to discover your “niche.”

Unfortunately, it isn’t that simple, which is why I’ve provided you the five categories where successful niches fall into.
Before I get into those categories, let’s talk about the common goals most people share.
- First, people want to have a constant income. They want to be financially secure.
- Second, they want to be healthy.
- Third, they want to be with someone and be happy.
What’s the point of all this?
If you sell or advertise in a niche that offers what I’ve mentioned above (money, health, and relationships), then, it’s hard for you to go wrong.
With that said, anything of these three are among the best niches for affiliate marketing:
- Health and fitness
- Wealth or money
- Relationships and dating
I mentioned five categories, so I’m going to add two that are as successful:
- Hobbies and interests
- Self-enhancement
A lot of people spend money without any regrets on these topics.
Many successful niches belong into one or more of these areas. Also, some of them overlap into different categories.
Here are some examples:
Health and Fitness
- Weight loss
- Bodybuilding
- Diabetes
- Insomnia
And these topics can still be broken down to come up with more profitable niches:
- Losing weight after pregnancy
- Natural recipes for diabetics
- Bodybuilding for skinny men to attract more women
Relationships and Dating
- Become a better spouse
- Finding a partner
- Adopting children
These subjects can also be broken down to be more specific:
- Being the better parent after a divorce
- Finding a partner through online dating
- How to meet women in daytime situations

The Best Way to Finding Niches
Often, you can come up with these niches by choosing a topic then breaking it down into a subtopic. After that, find someone to market them to.
It’s usually like this:
Business > Market > Targeted person > Reason
For example: Health > Weight loss > Women who just gave birth > Losing the pregnancy weight
Why It’s Essential to Niche Down
When you break down your niche further, your topic becomes more specific, more targeted to a person, and better chances of succeeding.
When you try to market to anyone, you’re not addressing the problems of a specific person. For example, imagine a woman who recently gave birth and is looking for ways to lose weight, do you think she’ll listen to a 20-year old girl who doesn’t have any children?
Or would she listen to someone who gave birth three times already and has her weight in check?
People want to receive specific answers made for them, especially from people who went through what they’ve been through.
What Makes a Niche Market Good?
These 6 components must be present:
- Interest and knowledge on the topic.
Make a website on a niche you’re interested in and have knowledge about. This way, you can create content that people will notice that you know what you’re talking about.
When they see that you understand what you’re saying, they’re going to trust you. And when they trust you, there’s a huge chance that they’re going to buy the product or service you’re promoting.
However, you don’t have to be an expert from the beginning, as long as it’s a topic you’d like to learn and research about, then you’re all good.
- Websites you can generate traffic.
A website without any traffic is pointless. What you’re going to do is to find sources where you can get traffic, and make sure that you’re driving traffic from that site to yours.
How is this done?
You look for blogs that allow guest posts and comments with links. You also look for forums that let you share content and clickable signatures.
Other useful sources that let you post your content are Facebook social media groups, Pinterest boards, and Reddit subgroups.
If you’re up for it, paid traffic is also effective, such as Google Adwords, Facebook Ads, or banner ads on other sites.
There is SEO you must learn if you have a website and also how to product high quality content for your readers to learn from.
It is absolutely essential that you know how to drive free traffic from your site before you scale with paid advertising as you want to establish yourself first in your niche.
- A business model you can follow.
If you’re just starting and everything is all new to you, it’s likely that you don’t want to create your own business model that’s untested.
The good news is, you don’t have to.
Just find a successful business model. Check out other websites with the same niche as you and see how they’re earning. You can Google your niche and go through the top results as well.
- Find membership sites; they’re making recurring monthly earnings.
- Find products on sale; they’re marketing their own goods and services.
- Find adverts on blogs; they’re earning from ad clicks.
- Find links to sources like Amazon; they’re making money through affiliate marketing.
- Goods and services you can promote as an affiliate.
Affiliate marketing makes this the easiest way in to making money online since you don’t have to have your own products or services to promote.
Therefore, as you look at your niche, make sure you find affiliate products and services that fit your niche to promote or else you won’t be making money from your niche.
You can join affiliate programs with companies directly or you can join affiliate networks, some of these are:
- Amazon
- ShareASale
- Clickbank
- Problems or passions that exist with the audience in your niche
When people have serious problems, they’re usually desperate to find a solution. And, if you can provide that to them, they will most likely buy it and take on your recommendation if you have provided enough evidence/information why and how that product benefits them.
This is the reason why making money, dating, and weight loss and fitness are among the best niches for affiliate marketing.
On the other hand, if someone is so passionate about something and enjoys doing it, for instance, travel, a hobby, or sport, they’re likely to spend a lot on it because they feel great about it.
Profitable passion niches include travel, cooking, drones, golf, many other sports and many other niches you can go into.
- Competition
Yes, you read that right. Competition can be good for you.
When many of us started, we searched for a niche that no one knew about.
But, there isn’t.
Someone else always knew ahead of you.
So, my point is, whatever topic you discovered recently, even if it’s new to you, someone already knows about it. And, most likely, they’re already earning from it, which is a good thing.
Why?
Competition means that there’s a high demand for a product or service:
- It means many customers out there are looking for information and willing to spend their money on it.
- It means there are many sites out there you can connect with, get ideas, and even generate traffic from!
- It means there are goods and services that you can advertise as an affiliate.
How To Build An Online Business Around Your Niche
Now that you know how to niche down and find your ultimate niche, you will then need to learn how to put all this together.
As mentioned above a website is needed but that’s just the beginning. You’ll also need to know how to build such a website so that you have a strong foundation to start with and then build it out properly with the latest SEO techniques as well as keyword usage.
There is much to learn to build such an affiliate marketing business and it’s not just about slapping a bunch of affiliate products on a website and that’s it.
It’s quite the opposite.
You’ll need to educate your audience with all the information you know about the niche, you need to know how to find out their pain points and how to solve it for them.
