As I am writing this guide, you will start to wonder if the structure of this entire content is SEO-friendly. After all, the reason you are here is that you want to learn how to write SEO blog posts.
Writing SEO-worthy content may sound easy. In practice, it is quite complicated and interchanging.
You see, the rules of SEO changes from time to time. The algorithms of major search engines change constantly. An effective SEO technique today might be obsolete in the next months or years.
And apparently, Google has become stricter as of late. The release of Google Panda, Google Penguin, and Google Medic has changed the landscape for good. In the past, spammy contents can still rank. This is no longer true to these days.
Fortunately, the core of writing contents that are good for search engines stay the same. It is a tradition in the SEO world that seemingly does change.
If you want to learn the critical techniques in effective content writing, especially in blogs and affiliate sites, you have to check out this simple guide. Let’s get started.
If You Haven’t Made Any Money With Your Blog,
See My Secret Weapon To My Success:
Learn Keyword Research
The first thing that you need to do first is research for keywords. If you think that you can write aimlessly and still hit the first page of Google, you are terribly wrong.
Keywords can be considered as the heart of the content. It is one of the biggest factors that the search engines use to rank a particular page or site. The more optimized and targeted your keywords are, the better their chances of ranking up naturally.
Of course, keyword research can be troublesome if you are going to do it manually. To make things easier for you, make sure that you have keyword research tools at your disposal. There are a lot of decent choices out there. Most of them are also paid.
If you want to start good, I do recommend that you use the tool called Jaaxy. It is a hassle-free application that lets you search the best keywords to write based on their competition and number of searches.

How to Write SEO Blog Posts
“Whatever” is simply not enough for SEO-related contents. Even if you are writing for entertainment blogs, techniques and rules still apply. Even if you got a knack for writing, you could not just shrug off these basic writing guidelines.
Rule 1: Create A Core Message – Gain Trust
Just like I said earlier, you cannot just write aimlessly. You cannot just jumble your thoughts into sentences and paragraphs without thinking. Otherwise, the content will not engage your readers.
When you are writing, it is pretty crucial that you are aware of the message that you want to relay to your audience.
If you are trying to answer a question, make sure that the content is directed in that. If there’s an action that you want the people to do after reading your article, make sure that it is clearly stated.
This is the kind of outline that your content has to follow. It will give you a direction and purpose to heed.
The focus needs to be answering what the keyword this post was targeted for and if people landed on this page, you need to ask yourself, will it give your readers all the information they were looking for when they’re on your page.
If they don’t find what they were looking for on your page, then they will leave and so your bounce rate will be high which negatively affects your SEO rankings.
Providing valuable content also means you are building trust and if users are interacting with your site longer then Google will think that your site is helpful to others and thus rank you higher.
Rule 2: Make The Structure – Readability
Most writers out there have different approaches to writing their contents. They have specific techniques and methods of making their articles “structured” and “organized.”
Somehow, this part is quite subjected to the preference of the writer.
But for starters, it is crucial that you learn the basic structure of any written contents. Specifically, the article that you are going to write should have the following:
- Introduction
- Body
- Conclusion
Now, you can always play on how to make the body but you can have several sections within the body to explain the concept you’re writing about there.
You can dissect it to different headings using H2 & H3 tags if you are going to cover a variety of related topics. In this way, your content will appear organized and clean.
Adding different sections with subtitles also will create a longer post which will give your audience even greater value.
Having more words is also a ranking factor to consider and most people do 1,000 words minimum.

Rule 3: Internal & External Linking
In your posts, you need to let Google know which posts are important within your blog website. This is where internal linking come into play.
Internal linking is when you link from one page to another on your own site, you should have a minimum of two per post. You can do a lot but it will just look weird if everything is all linked up, so use it only if very appropriate and will help your readers out with that information.
Never do this for the sake of ranking but for the sake of the value you will provide for your audience.
External linking is when you add a link that goes to a page on an external website. Affiliate links don’t count, so link to stuff like new sites or wiki sites, etc., very high authority sites.
External linking allows Google to see that you’re willing to offer your audience out to other sites so this helps with rankings.
So, you can do just 1 external link for each post or 1 out of 3 posts, whatever you want to do but yeah, you don’t have to do it for every post.
Rule 4: Add Images
Each post should also include images as this is also another ranking factor and you should probably at least two images for each post.
One can be fairly big that fills up the width of your content and one that is smaller where words wrapped around it.
Not only images break up the text and makes our readers move around for the continuation of what they were reading, it gives it color and life which adds to the user experience and helping your site have better bounce rate.
Make sure your images are copyright free, there’s a filter under Settings when you’re viewing images on Google Images, and you can filter images that can be used freely.
There are also sites like these that offer all royalty-free images:
- unsplash.com is my favorite because they’re photos are very professionally done.
- pixabay.com has tons more as well and offers easy download option.
Rule 5: Meta Stuff Filled Out
If you use All-in-One SEO or Yoast SEO plugins, then you will have a section at the end of each post for meta title and meta description sections.
These are fields that robots crawl for and provides them with info on what your post is about. You can write the meta title different than your post title to make it more enticing.
However, don’t do clickbait or else you will find that it will adversely effect your site since people will leave as soon as they find out it was clickbait and your bounce rate will go through the roof.
So, be relevant in what you put in those two boxes but also enticing to make people click on your link as you only have a few seconds to impress them to do so.
Make sure that the main keyword that you’re targeting is in both fields as well.
Rule 6: Keywords, Keywords, Keywords
We cannot repeat this enough, that’s why this is here again to give you more info.
Knowing how to use keywords is absolutely critical to one’s blog success as they are one of the key (pun intended 😉 Lol) factors in getting traffic to your site and ranking.
A keyword is a word or a group of words that people use when searching on Google and other search engines.
Keywords tell search engines what the post is about so they can rank you accordingly. They also read your post it seems these days as Google’s algorithm gets smarter and smarter.
However, I still find their search results not always accurate so whatever they are testing is not working for me sometimes. I know others have noticed as well.
In order to find great keywords, you will need a great keyword tool like Jaaxy. That is what I use and it comes with the training I get at this blogging platform where I learned all this stuff.
Actually, there’s a lot more to learn, so I recommend you checking out this training platform so you can get the keyword planner tool for free!

There is so much to learn in how to blog for success that, without the training, it’s way harder and takes way longer to succeed.

Years later in 2016, after doing 2 online handmade shops, I decided to go back to blogging but this time, I wanted to do it right and properly so I can really make money with my blog this time.
It worked! The training I received makes me a 4 digit/month online earner today as well as a Super Affiliate for main product I promote!
Training on how to become an effective writer is also the same as learning how to write SEO blog posts. There are specific processes that you have to undergo and understand before you can make a compelling article.
