There are things you’ll also need to know about Facebook groups before you share posts to them so that you can do it safely and not get banned.

Sharing your posts to Facebook groups is one of the best ways to get targeted traffic to your posts, offers, and products.

Here is how I’ll explain this whole process:

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT FACEBOOK ACCOUNTS, PAGES, & GROUPS

Before we start, I want everyone to be on the same page about how Facebook works so I want to explain each of these elements:

  • Facebook Accounts
  • Facebook Pages
  • Facebook Groups

Facebook Personal Account LoginFacebook Accounts

When you sign up for a Facebook account, you have to sign up with your personal information so I will call this your Facebook personal account.

Your personal account is where it all starts at and from there you can do all the other functions in Facebook such as sharing, creating groups, sharing to groups, building a fan page, advertise, etc.

This is the part of Facebook where you connect with your friends so you will have a friends list here which will make up your news feed.

Your Facebook personal account has many privacy settings so this account can be totally private and all anyone can see is your Facebook profile picture and your cover photo.

Facebook Create Page MenuFacebook Pages

On the other hand, Facebook Pages are public and always public, they are also called Fan Pages as well.

The Facebook Pages are created for mainly businesses, blogs, bands, charities, or artists.  They serve as a place for your fans to connect with you without having them being on your friends list and seeing any of your private information on your personal account.

You can post on your Facebook Pages as your business so you can update your fans with all aspects of your business and keep connected.

They can also send you private messages to your Facebook Page so you can see that each Page can be stand alone and you control it on the back end.

Facebook Groups

Now we come to Facebook Groups, these can be created by anyone and you can access that from the same menu as creating a FB Page, two links below the “Create Page” in the image above, you will see “Create Group”.

What’s so attractive about Facebook Groups is that they have a very targeted audience and people have made a lot of money in building a good following in their Groups.

The only thing about posting to them is that they may have a lot of rules in the Group you want to post to so you always have to make sure you’re allowed to share the posts you want to post there.

After you join a Facebook Group, you have to check their guidelines for the Group which is usually in the pinned post or in the Group description the right side of the Group page.

Make sure you know the type of content you’re allowed to share as well as how often.  Some Groups have very strict rules and some have more lax rules, so you just need to check first.

Once you know you’re allowed to share posts there, then you’re good to go and you should always follow the Group’s guidelines to prevent yourself from being banned from it.

HOW TO JOIN FACEBOOK GROUPS & SHARE POSTS TO THEM

Before you can share any posts to any groups, you need to join it first.

Here Are The Steps To Join a Facebook Group:

Step 1:

In the Facebook search bar, type in the topic you’re interested in, I’ll use “DIY craft projects” as an example.

Facebook Search Group

Step 2:

You’ll then see all different kinds of results, but you only want Groups, so click on “Groups” in the menu just below the search bar.

Step 3:

Now you will see all the Groups that has to do with your search term and you can click on the “Join” button to request to be a member of that group.

Facebook Join Group

You will need to wait for the administrators to approve you, which is most of the time, or sometimes you can get approved right away.

Once you have been added to the group, make sure you read their guidelines and know what you’re allowed to do in the group so you don’t get kicked out and get banned from it.

Here Are The Steps To Share A Post to A Group:

The following steps are the same whether you are sharing a post from your personal account or from a Fan Page.  I’m using my Facebook Fan Page for this blog as an example below.

Step 1:

Go to the post you want to share to the Facebook Group, click on the “Share” link at the bottom of the post:

Facebook Share Post

Step 2:

A pop up menu will come up, you will need to click on the top left drop down menu and select “Share in a Group“:

Facebook Select Share in a Group

Step 3:

You will then type in the exact name name of the group if you know it, as you start typing the list of groups that you belong to that has the name you’re typing in will show up.

Choose the Group you want to share to, type something in the description (you can also leave it blank as well) and click on “Post” button on the bottom right.

CONGRATULATIONS!

You have just shared a Post to a Group on Facebook!  I hope now you’ll have the grasp of sharing your posts, whether a post from your own timeline or from your Facebook Page, you can do so to a number of groups per day.

I’ve been sharing one post to 30 groups a day and that brings traffic to my blog more than anything else for my social media platforms!

While you don’t need various software products for this, you just have to go on facebook and follow my steps above.

You can certainly do this for affiliate links and earn commissions, if allowed by the group that is.

That’s why it’s best to share to your website first so that:

  1. Your audience to learn more about product from your blog post;
  2. You get more chances of sharing your affiliate products this way vs posting affiliate links directly to the Facebook Groups.

    • If you can let me know Jacbec where you are on Facebook when you click on share options, then maybe I can see where that is and why you don’t see the group option.

Make sure the original post is set to public and not private of any kind or else you can’t share to groups, the posts must be set to public to be able to share to others that are not on your friends list.

      Hope this helps,
      Grace

  6. For what reason would there not be the option to share a post to a group? The options to share to a friend’s timeline or my own or to send as a message are there but there is no option to share to a group. Why would this be? How do I fix it?

  7. I want to share my post on a couple of groups like 30 or 40. But I am afraid to do it cause some people said that they got blocked for doing this. Is it really safe? or if there is any safe way to do this please tell me the details, like did you take a gap between each share. I am waiting for your reply.

    • It’s called spamming Rumi, so yeah, you will be blocked by FB if you don’t be careful and post a little at a time. You also need to make sure the groups you go into ALLOW you post cuz those group owners can block and remove you too if you’re not providing value.

Try providing value instead of spamming all over the web. That’s not how you make money if that’s what you’re trying to do.

  9. Hi, great article, I have a question, please. In the last few weeks, I notice I can’t share in groups anymore. I have more then 50 groups and can’t share anything even if I type their name it’s not pop in up. I need to go to each group and paste on their wall instead which is a nightmare. before I was able just to share with one click now it is getting too difficult.
Do you know how to fix this problem? I wrote to facebook support but never get back from them.
Any idea will help, thank you so much.

    Thank you in advance

    • Hi Vesna, Facebook has been awful lately. They took away ALL my FB Pages and I can’t publish anymore new Pages either. They claim I have been violating their terms, even though I have been doing the same things for the last 2.5 years. So they decided they didn’t like me for some reason along with a NEW page I had started that only had ONE video post on it. I don’t know what’s up with FB lately. My friend also had a FB Page taken down. So your ability not to post to groups anymore but have to do it manually, I’m not surprised. I have no clue what they are doing but I feel they are getting worse and worse.

They are supposedly concentrating more on Groups too so I’m unsure why they are taking that ability away from you. Maybe it’s the group owners that’s taken that 1 click ability away? Are you posting from an app? They don’t like that either with my experience. I used to do that and get blocked frequently so I had stopped sharing like that awhile back.

I don’t have much faith in FB anymore.

I’m sorry I don’t have more good news on this.

  10. Hi Grace
I am starting my own small business do I have to start my own fb account first before I can post to groups?

    • Yes you’ll need a Facebook profile account in order to post in a group. Sometimes Groups allow FB Business Pages to join, but not all groups are like that. However, you still need a profile account in order to create Business Pages anyway, so yes, you will need to join FB first.

  11. Hi… if I joined a “group” and they accepted me & of course they can see my Fb picture I use when I post.
Is there a way to change my profile picture to another picture when I go to post comments in that group & still keep my original Fb picture?
