It is a type of program that bloggers or website owners can sign up for with companies and brands to sell their products and services by using banners and affiliate links in their pages.

When someone clicks on these affiliate links and goes to the merchant’s website to buy something, then you will earn a commission.

It is an easy way to earn a living if you give it a chance and become knowledgeable about how things work so you can build your online business properly.

One common misconception people have about the process is that they have to really push the affiliate products within their blogs, but you don’t, you really don’t need to sell if you know how to blog properly for affiliate marketing.

It is a good idea to try the products out and have the first-hand experience with them before becoming an affiliate. After all, once your website gets a loyal following, the readers trust you, the creator.

Once you have build trust between you and your audience, then it’ll be easier to convert your visitors into a customers because they will try what you will recommend to them.

 

 

However, giving them a recommendation for something that turns out to be a flop can spell disaster as they will likely seek advice from somewhere else next time and you won’t build any kind of following if you do this.

A second misconception is that affiliate marketing just doesn’t make a lot of money or any money for that matter.

That is literally not true at all and why people think this way is because they haven’t done it long enough or they are not blogging properly, or not using the right vehicle to use affiliate marketing with.

Whatever method you choose to do your affiliate marketing with, the most important of course is traffic.  Without traffic, you basically have nothing.

A lot of bloggers don’t know how to blog properly and they will not get the traffic that is needed to make money with affiliate marketing.

I get thousands of visitors to my website a day because I know how to use SEO strategies to get ranked on first page on search engines like Google and that’s why I don’t need to pay a penny for my traffic.

Using the SEO strategy makes your affiliate marketing business even more profitable because you will then have low operating costs and can keep most of what you earn in commissions.

A third misconception is that one can make money on the internet very fast, doesn’t matter what method or business model you use, it seems like the scam products out there like to feed this message to the masses and that’s how you fail.

Making money online is not a quick thing.

You’re building a business really when you want to earn online so you must be able to build your business with time and learn all the techniques necessary to make your business a success.

 

My 2 Year Results As An Affiliate Marketer

Another misconception folks have about the practice is that they will get rich from it.

While a few people may, and plenty will earn a comfortable living, some others may make little to no money at all.

Even with the proper training, blogs don’t usually bring in funds in the first three months.

From the 3 to 6-month period, the amount is minimal, but still, the blogger should start to notice a little bit of a return. If the person keeps at it, eventually, they may hit three or four figures.

I recently received the title of Super Affiliate and enjoyed reaching my all-time high of $4.9K in August at the end of my second year as an affiliate marketer.

Here I want to show you my 2 years results as an affiliate marketer so you can see that you can certainly make a full time income if you know what you’re doing:

 

 

As you can see, at the end of my 2 years, I’m already trending a full time income making almost $5K that last month!

This is the possibility of affiliate marketing and what you can earn.

This is only the start for me, there are many other affiliate marketers easily making 5 digits a month from their affiliate websites.

That’s where I want to be and I hope I can get there in 2019 but as you can see this business takes time.  It’s not a push button process and no other system or product can make you make money any faster.

If you use paid traffic, then you can have a slightly better advantage and see faster results that way, but that would mean you will need a few thousand dollars for your ad budget each month and then you’ll forever will be paying for traffic if you go that route.

I don’t pay anything for the thousands of visitors I get on my site every month, the traffic all comes from search engines.

 

 

WHAT YOU CAN DO TO SUCCEED WITH AFFILIATE MARKETING

In this section, I’m going to identify the elements that will help you succeed with affiliate marketing so you can make money consistently month after month (like I do!).

Be Niche Specific

The website or blog genre absolutely makes a difference when it comes to affiliate marketing.

For instance, if the primary topic is dogs, having links to Apple products may not do much good. Most of the viewers won’t come to the site seeking tech gadgets.

Instead, these readers will be looking for answers to questions about their beloved pets. Therefore, in this case, pet foods, toys, and wellness products for pets would be a better fit.

You may also want to narrow down your niche so that you can become an authority easier with such a site.

So instead of just a dog site, you may want to do just dog strollers niche.

You may also want to choose a niche that has products that are priced in the 3 digits, $100 and up.

The work that goes into promoting a $5 or $100 product is pretty much the same so make your work effort worth your time.

 

Be Educated In How A Blog Works

A big misconception is that affiliate marketing is easy. This is false as the deed is anything but simple.

Site owners often find it to be time-consuming, tedious, and on occasion, a bit overwhelming. However, if the person is prepared to get the training and exert the energy, the work can prove to be very lucrative.

After receiving the knowledge, don’t think that you know it all though. There is always something new or different popping up that is worth learning.

Plus, who knows, maybe the brand-new teaching will improve your strategy and help you make even more money.

Remember not to give up as well because things can turn around quickly and your luck can change in a hurry when dealing with the internet.

 

Be Consistent With Your Work Effort

If my graph above can tell you anything is that consistent work effort is needed to make a blog successful and the more competitive your niche is, the more content you’ll need to produce.

Your commitment to your online business must be strong and maintained for the long run because you’ll need to work through months of not earning much.

Having breaks even 2 – 3 weeks can adversely affect your blog’s traffic, with Google being so dang smart these days, you have to watch everything you do and it’s been proven to me many times over that consistency pays off.

 

Be Able To Monitor Statistics & Competition

As a blog website owner, you will need to monitor your traffic, keywords and your competition as affiliate marketing largely relies on traffic.

When no guests are visiting the site, there is nobody to click on the links and buy products. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance to keep track of what’s going on with your online business.
