If You Haven’t Made Any Money With Affiliate Marketing,
See My Secret Weapon To My Success:
TOP 7 THINGS BEGINNERS NEED TO KNOW TO BECOME AN AFFILIATE MARKETER ONLINE
#1) Have the Right Expectations
Before you start with your journey, I have to make sure that this is clear to you:
You’re not going to make a thousand dollars in a month.
You need to have the right expectations. A lot of affiliate marketers invest a significant amount of time to develop their original websites.
Then, they will continue to commit some of their time to add fresh and valuable content while building their sites. Some will even make other small sites if they find the right approach to reach their goals.
Whatever you plan on doing, whether to concentrate on a single website or several small sites, you need to set realistic goals and work hard to attain them.
You must be patient.
Success in this business doesn’t happen overnight. It will take time, and by that, I mean at least six months to a year before you achieve a stable income.
Don’t get me wrong; you will likely earn in a few months. Some make a lot of money in less than four months. Unfortunately, that’s not the norm.
Sure, you’ll earn a few dollars in a few weeks, but that income won’t be stable until you’ve been in this business for six months and more.
It’s important that you don’t expect fast results, especially when you’re starting with a new or low-traffic website.
#2) Build an Online Presence
Probably the most effective way to establish a strong online presence is through building a blog website and/or building a YouTube channel.
Both of these avenues allow the earning potential of also ad revenue that could be placed on your blog or videos.
Having an online presence allows you to build trust with your audience and building such an online asset allows you to get free visitors to your content without paying for ads or promotions.
If you’re using the right keywords in your content and learn some SEO, you will get your blog posts or videos ranked high on the search engines and that’s how you will get visitors on your content.
A review website is one of the most lucrative approaches to affiliate marketing. A review website would go into reviewing products in your niche and advising your audience different aspects of it.
While developing your website, make sure that your content has value and is focused on providing your consumer target audience value.
Prevent from cluttering your website with low-grade information or links to brands that you don’t have enough knowledge and experience using.
You must update your website or blog regularly. But, be careful to avoid redundancy.
#3) Find Profitable Affiliate Programs
After choosing a niche and building your website, it’s time to find affiliate programs. These programs are managed directly by merchants, with the common goal of promoting the company’s products and services.
Some of the top profitable affiliate programs include Amazon, Builderall and Wealthy Affiliate, other web hosting services, and digital products – such as training courses, online membership sites, and software downloads.
Everyone knows what Amazon is and how good they are in converting their visitors to sales. All you need to do is get your leads to click your links. But, there’s a disadvantage.
Their program only offers around 1% to 10% commission rates, depending on which category of products you’ve sold. As well, their cookie is only 24 hours, meaning your visitor has only 24 hours to buy something for you to earn a commission.
Pro tip: Promote products that are worth more than $100. Promoting products that are only $10 and getting a 60-cent commission probably won’t work.
Web hosting affiliate programs are cost-effective because they are legit and pays well. Also, they often offer recurring commissions wherein you get paid each month as long as your referrals keep their accounts.
Take note though, web hosting affiliate programs are quite competitive. But, if you have enough knowledge, it’s worth pushing through.
Digital products offer attractive commissions. Many of these products pay you at least 25% commissions. Like in Wealthy Affiliate, they will pay you 45%+ recurring commissions for your referrals.
When choosing affiliate programs that you’re going to sign up for, you must first check what they want you to promote. It’s important that their products are popular and in line to your chosen niche. Thus, look for companies that relate to your target market and check if they offer affiliate programs.
For instance, if your site is about building websites, you must look for web hosting sites that have their own affiliate programs.
#4) Providing Value Is Key
The ultimate goal is to earn money. However, if you’re just starting, your focus must be on providing help and information, rather than selling.
Obvious self-promotion and sale sites never draw appeal. You must help your visitors and offer them useful information. This is for them to have a reason to keep coming back to your website.
This approach is very helpful to your marketing strategy. Be useful to your leads until they convert into sales.
This is because when you provide help and valuable information to your readers, you will develop trust. When you have trust, people are more likely to buy from you.
That’s why when you create content, make sure it’s packed with helpful tips and not just fluff to get the word count.
If you check websites related to your target niche that rank well in Google, you’ll discover that valuable content always wins. Always do your research and constantly provide useful and updated info.
#5) Consistently Writing Fresh Valuable Content
If you’re really serious about earning through affiliate marketing, you must write fresh, valuable content consistently. Content doesn’t only refer to the articles you post on your website. It’s in every communication you use with your readers.
The more competitive your niche is, the more content you’ll need to produce. Some niches can make money with under 75 posts, but some niches need double that to earn the same.
So, you have to know your niche and what it will take to make money with it.
You’ll need to know about your CTAs (call-to-action), both transactional and informational, and the skill to write in a widely readable way.
Also, your content must also be dedicated to your readers. Aside from providing them with useful info, address and answer their questions and concerns.
Get to know your audience. Find out what draws them to your site. Having a search box is an effective way to discover what they want to gain from your website.
Set yourself a schedule that you can keep up so you can keep up with the content creation.
Write, write, write! Devote yourself to producing regular content!

A lot of newbies give up easily. When they don’t make any commissions within a month, they quit right then and there. It shouldn’t be that way.
You need to be disciplined and must commit yourself in reaching your goals. You need to keep building your business even if you don’t make a sale.
You’ll have to figure out what’s wrong with your campaign – what needs to be improved or changed.
The best affiliate marketers are constant learners. They research and learn about top-quality products.
